Out the Window

the mountains below,
blanketed with snow,
they're tucked in tight
ready for night

the snow looks soft,
cuddly and fluffy
inside this plane
is lonely and stuffy

surrounded by strangers
but in no fear of danger,
the only thing to do
is look upon the sky, so blue

the heavens above
and the sky below
where one ends and the other begins
no one will know

their divide becomes fuzzy,
blended, unclear
but the final destination
is drawing near

the blue and white
reveal no signs of night
only the hope
to indulge in delight

as it begins to surround,
only air, no ground
it lifts us up
as the engines pound

we continue to ascend
all buildings out of sight
to touch the stars
would be an utter delight

to feel them twinkle
sparkle and gleam
to reach out my hand
it's only a dream

but my mind still wanders
back to the day
when the ground below
felt so far away
